The future of Jaguar is pivoting away from its gas engine vehicles to become a fully electric car brand within the next five years, and the announcement makes Jaguar the biggest legacy OEM to commit its future to electric cars. The luxury brand plans to be entirely electric by 2025 and launch its entire lineup of e-models by 2030. Jaguar plans to start testing hydrogen fuel cell electric prototypes to phase out diesel engines completely by 2026, starting in England.
The current Jaguar lineup features Jaguar's I-PACE, an award-winning all-electric SUV that features two extremely potent and lightweight electric motors. Both Motors are up to 97 perfect efficient when transferring power from the battery to the motor. An internal combustion engine is usually only 30-40 percent efficient when producing power from fossil fuels. The I-Pace heralds an exciting new era for Jaguar electric vehicles using sophisticated regenerative braking and a convenient plug-in charge point.
Jaguar I-PACE is a head-turning, all-electric SUV delivering pure Jaguar performance and zero tailpipe emissions, reflecting our success in developing state-of-the-art technology and new powertrains.
I-PACE is also propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors integrated with both axles, providing 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque and accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. You can expect to see the Jaguar lineup turn to an all-electric lineup with the Jaguar I-PACE as the front tier for EVs in the next five years.
